Steamatic of Sacramento Investigates Moisture Intrusions

Moisture Inspections
Steamatic of Sacramento (S.O.S.) offers inspection services to help pinpoint the source of moisture or microbial issues adversely affecting indoor air quality in a home or business. The first is moisture intrusion investigations, and the second is concrete moisture measurements.

S.O.S. uses several high-tech devices to simulate a wind-driven rain storm and to document any leaks. Technicians install a blower door that creates negative pressure inside the house and use pressurized spray bars outside the house to simulate wind-driven rain. As that is going on, an S.O.S. supervisor uses an infrared (IR) camera to any leaks An IR camera essentially sees through surfaces by measuring temperatures

Leaks in synthetic stucco or window flashings often can't be seen with the naked eye or with a digital camera taking photos concurrently with the IR camera. Once probable leaks are located, the supervisor confirms that areas appearing wet through the IR camera are actually wet by taking readings with a hygrometer.

A written report and side-by-side IR and digital photos are provided as part of an S.O.S. moisture intrusion investigation.

Concrete Moisture Measurements

This test can help determine if a wet slab is a source of moisture or microbial issues in a house. Common signs of a leaking slab are buckling wooden floors, discoloration of the vinyl and smelly, moldy carpets. S.O.S. has the expertise to perform this testing and to define the problem.

Of all the problems affecting indoor air quality, a leaking slab is the most difficult and most expensive to fix. S.O.S. can make referrals to qualified contractors.
