| Rodents have infested my commercial gas range and oven - what an odor when I fire it up. What can you do to salvage this major investment? |
Believe it or not, we have performed this service more than once. Here's the scope of services required: 1. A competent vendor to unhook and remove the unit from the job site and deliver it to our plant. Same for the return trip. This could be the original vendor or a specialty moving company. We know both - call us if you need a recommendation. 2. A vendor who services your brand of appliance who can provide replacement parts and insulation for the unit. Field mice normally use the insulation for nesting and delivery of their brood, and yes they frequently soil their own nest! 3. Disassembly of the appliance to determine what areas (most always the insulated areas) need attention. Next, we remove the insulation, treat adsorbent heat protection materials that cannot be removed, thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected parts of the appliance. Field mice can carry the Hantavirus (see http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehsphl/factsheet/hanta.htm) so we treat these jobs as biological remediation for the protection of our staff. This means that or staff wear personal protection equipment (PPE) throughout the disassembly, insulation removal, and cleaning. 4. Reassembly of the unit. We have, in the past, called the specialty appliance dealer to assist us on a job due to the complexity of the unit and the proper sequence of the assembly process. Many units require the technical assistance of a specialty appliance technician. 5. Delivery of the unit and reconnection by the appropriate vendor. Proper hookups are a health and safety issue and best left to a qualified vendor. And yes Alice, we can do this before Thanksgiving if we have the parts and the unit for a minimum of five (5) working days. (The names have been changed to protect the innocent.)
